What did you dream of doing when you were a little girl?
I dreamt of being a business woman. I grew up in Cape Town and I remember visiting the city and seeing a woman dressed in a suit walking across the square. This stranger became a symbol that inspired me in my vision to be a female entrepreneur.
Is there a particular female figure that inspires you?
Audrey Hepburn, not only a film and fashion icon, she spent much of her later life dedicated to helping others with her humanitarian work with UNICEF.

My Mum has always inspired me because she has always worked hard for what she has achieved and pushed me to better myself.
What advice would you give to young women wanting to start a career in our industry?
Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. If you are willing to get stuck in you will succeed.

I opened up my own company at the age of 20. 4 years later, it’s still going strong!

What did you dream of doing when you were a little girl?
I wanted to play football! Growing up I was a massive ‘tomboy’ and was always more interested in what the boys were doing rather than the girls. I played boys sports, lived in tracksuits and trainers and hung out with the boys. As I’ve grown up I’ve realised that the traits that labelled me a ‘tomboy’; being tough, strong-willed and competitive, are the ones that have helped me succeed and made me the strong woman I am today.
Is there a particular female figure that inspires you?
I am lucky to have been surrounded by strong, incredible women throughout my life. My Mum, Sister, Nan and Auntie have all inspired me to work hard and achieve whatever I want to and be whoever I want to be. My daughter inspires me everyday. She’s brilliant and if I can go any way in inspiring her to achieve whatever she would like then I’d be very happy.
What advice would you give to young women wanting to start a career in our industry?
I would say to anyone wanting to start a career in any industry to never underestimate yourself and never to let any one else underestimate you.
Give us one interesting fact about yourself…….
I play guitar and bass and enjoy gigging in local pubs and festivals.
Happy International Women’s Day!
